Are you ready for Pathfinder Expedition? Test your skills at the upcoming Map & Compass event!
Your Map Reading skills, Use of Compass, Bushwalking Skills and Decision making skills will all be practised and tested on this day. Have fun getting lost and enjoying great views!
Attendees will be split into groups of 4-8 persons, and each person will be given a map of the area. A qualified staff member will accompany each group.
Prerequisite – Have spent some time learning the basic map and compass skills in Pathfinder Club time.
LOCATION: Vale of Avoca Recreation Reserve. End of Cabbage Tree Road (2.99km from the turn off) (if using a car GPS number 296 Cabbage Tree Road is next to the NP Entrance).
TIME: 10.00am - 4.00pm, June 16.
COST: $12 per person (The cost includes, hire of portaloo, map and other stationary for the event).
WHAT TO BRING -
Individuals - long pants, covered shoes, long sleeved shirts, wind breaker (clothes appropriate to the weather), hat, day pack, lunch, snacks, water and a compass.
Groups – at least ONE mobile phone, basic first aid kit, hand radio, toilet paper and hand trowel in case of emergency.
WE WILL SUPPLY – Maps for each participant
Control card, control point description and a program that includes the safety guidelines.
We will also make available experienced guides to help your group to read a map, use a compass and knowledge in how to navigate in the bush.
